On 28 November 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Trade together with the Agency for Entrepreneurship and Innovation announced business projects of 2018. In total, the competition saw the entry of 700 projects. The first-prize winner in the category ‘Research & Development for Innovation‘ was the project ‘Production Innovation to Increase Competitiveness of PETROF’. The award was taken over by Research and Development Manager Ing. Ivan Vaculík.
The project’s implementation has led to an enhancenment in PETROF’s competitive ability thanks to a fundamental product and processing innovation that enables the firm to manufacture newly developed models of grand and upright pianos in the essential quality. For these purposes, 2 CNC machines have been purchased in pursuance of the project that ensure attainment of precision in the manufacturing process. The project has also been awarded for the application of the results of long-lasting research and development activities realised in cooperation with the Mendel University in Brno, which are under PETROF’s industrial property law protection.
